Oakton is the oldest continuously occupied residence in Marietta, Georgia. Built in 1838, the origional 325 ac. site has been the home to 4 families as well as served Major General Loring's,CSA, as headquarters during the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain in 1864. The original barn, milk house, smoke house and the well house remain on the remaining 5 ac. property. The spectacular gardens include the parterre garden from the 1870's, a kitchen garden, and magnificant Oak trees over 200 years old. Today, Oakton has been beautifully restored inside and out.
